USDA ERS 2024; FDA CVM antimicrobial sales 2024

Flag the animal that is off-pattern before she is down

Wearable herd monitoring is still rare on small operations. Antimicrobial sales are not. Earlier detection is how you treat the animal that needs it.

USDA ERS reports that wearable livestock technology was used on 1% of small farms and 12% of large-scale livestock farms in 2023. In the same window, FDA reported that sales of medically important antimicrobials for food-producing animals rose 16% in 2024 versus 2023. Monitoring is still the exception. Group treatment is still the expensive default.

Illness caught on a walk is already late. A custom stack for this is a baseline per animal for movement, feeding, and rest — wired into the records a crew already keeps — so an alert fires when the pattern breaks, not when the animal is down.

We instrument medicine events against animals flagged off-pattern on your operation, and compare them to the season you started with.
